The Eternals: Everything You Need To Know
5. The Film Is Set Millions Of Years In The Past
Prequels are back in a big way for Marvel. Between Captain Marvel's nineties setting and Black Widow seemingly heading to that very decade too, it appears as though much of Marvel's next phase will have an emphasis on world-building and self-contained stories. The same principle is also being applied to The Eternals - at least if we're going off the synopsis provided by That Hashtag Show.
"The story of ‘THE ETERNALS’ is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered individuals as well as more villainous off-shoots known as Deviants. The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race. The story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fuelled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans."
So, not only will the film spotlight a romance between Ikaris and Sersi, it's looking as though those characters are being implemented with various sequels in mind, where we can expect to see them interact with the Avengers.
This was probably a given already, but the fact the film is set millions of years in the past points to something perhaps even more interesting, and it's all to do with Fox...
