The "F" Word: The All-Time Profanity List

From previous haywire and equally profane performances in Raging Bull, Goodfellas and My Cousin Vinny, Pesci established himself as the King of the four letter word. No such performance is by far a better example of this than Pesci's in Martin Scorsese's Casino. As Nick Santoro, a short tempered Mafia enforcer brought in to help protect Ace Rothstein (Robert De Niro) and the Vegas casino he runs, Santoro is captivated by the Vegas scene and soon finds himself over his head in the excess of living on the strip. Casino features the Four Letter Word 398 times, which when it was released in 1995 topped the all time profanity list. Probably more than half of these are credited to Pesci himself, who as Santoro is a loose cannon with quite a limited vocabulary. However, with each tirade we are given by Pesci he becomes more and more commanding in the film. Whether or not it was a choice to make his character more realistic or just to give the censors a run for their money, Joe Pesci's performance in Casino solidified his position firmly as an elder statesman of the Four Letter Word.
