The Fate of the Furious has the added sting of introducing Dom and Elena's son to the party, with Dom adding that he decided to name the boy Brian in honour of his "retired" friend.

It's honestly pretty surprising Vin Diesel had the restraint not to call him Paul, especially considering how well Furious 7 got away with basically breaking the fourth wall, and how weird it is to name your son after your friend who, within the context of the story, hasn't died but merely retired from the team.

Still, it's a poignant scene that again proves how brilliantly this series has established likeable characters the audience is invested in. Bravo.
