The Flash: 24 WTF Moments

11. Spaghetti Explains The Multiverse

The Flash Ezra Miller
Warner Bros. Pictures

Because basically every multiverse movie needs an obligatory scene where a character explains the whole mess, here we have Bruce detailing the film's multiversal rules with spaghetti of all things.

Bruce points out to Barry that while most movies dictate that changing the past creates a branching universe, this isn't actually true.

In the world of this film, Bruce describes it as a fulcrum that's "retrocausal" - basically, that interfering with time can cause changes in both the past and the present.

Using a bowl of spaghetti he was planning to eat for dinner, Bruce demonstrates that when enough changes are made, it can create a whole tangled web of spaghetti and eventually a hot mess, the latter indicated by dumping some pasta sauce into the bowl.

Basically, this scene is the movie asking you to not think too much about the time travel/multiverse logic and just enjoy the ride - which is absolutely the right way to watch it.
