The Flash: 24 WTF Moments

It isn't terribly surprising that Batman and Supergirl are both killed during the first iteration of the battle against Zod. It is surprising, however, that they end up dying twice, and the second time it actually sticks for both.

The first time around, Batman sacrifices himself by flying his Batwing into Zod's armoured ship, but because the ship has a shield, the Batwing simply explodes in a fireball. As for Supergirl, she's stabbed to death by Zod, who harvests her blood for his nefarious ends.

Refusing to accept this outcome, the Barrys use their abilities to travel back in time and do the fight again.

Though we as the audience assume that the duo will survive this time, Supergirl is again fatally stabbed by Zod, while Bruce suffers mortal injuries from battling one of Zod's armoured minions.

With the Barrys coming to appreciate that they can't keep changing the past, they decide to let the deaths stick this time.

This might be something of a disappointment for fans, given both the potential of Supergirl for future movies and how weirdly anti-climactic Batman's second death turned out.
