The Flash Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. The Surprisingly Affecting Ending

And finally, without giving anything away, The Flash manages to land on a surprisingly emotional ending.

After a chaotic, exhausting final battle, Barry's journey throughout the movie is resolved in an unexpectedly potent manner which, while not exactly unpredictable, ties up his arc impressively affectingly.

It's a credit to Miller's performance more than anything, that despite the fundamental silliness of this film, audiences are likely to be left feeling something when Barry confronts the reality of his mother-saving mission.

Sticking the landing is so important, and while it certainly doesn't compensate for the half-hour car crash that preceded it, it ensures fans should be sent home feeling emotionally gratified.
