The Flash Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

4. Michael Keaton Crushes It As Batman

For many, this movie's primary appeal was getting to see Michael Keaton back in the Batsuit for the first time in over 30 years, and in that regard, The Flash is a rousing success.

Keaton is clearly having a blast playing an older, more cynical, and beaten-down version of Bruce Wayne whose superheroism becomes reignited by the arrival of the Barrys.

Both in and out of the suit, Keaton's towering screen presence ensures he steals every single scene he's in, which is thankfully a fair amount of the movie's second half.

While Keaton could've absolutely phoned things in here for an easy late-career paycheck, his belated rendition of the character feels consistent with how he was presented in the Tim Burton movies, albeit with three decades of plausible rust.

For all that the film gets wrong, it absolutely does right by Keaton and fans of the Burton movies.
