The Girl In The Spider's Web Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs
Ups...
3. Claire Foy's Solid Performance
The easy standout element of the film is unquestionably Claire Foy, who is well-cast here as Lisbeth, even though the movie's script gives her shockingly little to do with the character.
Foy never gets to dig deep into Lisbeth as her predecessors Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara were able to, but she acquits herself admirably with an effortlessly believable accent, a deeply expressive face and a physical commitment to the movie's action sequences.
Nobody's going to blame Foy for the movie's failures, because she did the best she could with what little she had, even if she could only elevate the movie so much in the end.
