The Girl In The Spider's Web Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs
2. The Atmospheric, Creepy Cinematography
Bar the aforementioned editing issues, this is a pretty handsome film all things considered, with Álvarez's Don't Breathe cinematographer Pedro Luque returning to make the most of the film's gloomy Swedish shooting locations.
Obviously an attempt has been made to replicate the gorgeous style of Fincher's movie, and while it never feels as exacting or precise as Jeff Cronenweth's lensing from that movie, it is nevertheless nice to look at for the most part.
The aforementioned location work combined with the grimy interiors evoke the "I need to take a shower" feeling well enough, even if it isn't in the service of a stronger screenplay or sewn together with stronger editing throughout.
