5. Jim Carrey's Prosthetics

The prosthetic make-up, created by supremo Rick Baker which Jim Carrey wore for the 2000 movie and which took three hours to apply. Carrey reportedly felt so uncomfortable in it that he required counseling from a Navy SEAL who taught him torture-resistance techniques to cope with the confinement. Rick Baker's make-up and Gail Rowell-Ryan's hair creations won the 2001 Academy Award for Best Make-Up for How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
