The Grinch Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs

1. Kenan Thompson As Bricklebaum

The Grinch Bricklebaum
Universal

Kenan Thompson - yes, from Kenan and Kel - has a small but memorable role in the movie as Brickelbaum, The Grinch's perennially jolly neighbour, and he gives by far the best vocal performance in the entire film.

In addition to his deep, soothing voice, he gets the most consistently successful comedic material of any character in the film, while basically serving as a physical embodiment of everything The Grinch despises (that is, warmth and happiness).

If nothing else, it's clear from his fine work here that Thompson needs to get more voice work in major Hollywood movies, because he did a genuinely great job in an utterly mediocre movie.

What did you think of The Grinch? How did it stack up compared to previous versions? Shout it out in the comments!
