The Hateful Eight Script Leak: 8 Spoilers From Quentin Tarantino's Western

3. Chapter 4 - The Four Passengers

In a classic Tarantino move, we now go back in time to earlier that morning, and we see a stagecoach pulling up to Minnie's, clearly implied to be the abandoned stagecoach we briefly saw in the last chapter. The two drivers are two minor characters called Ed and Judy, who have driven four passengers this way, whose faces are obscured from our view for a little while. They all head inside to meet Minnie and Sweet Dave, and it turns out that they are an unnamed preacher, and three men we've seen before: hangman Oswald, Joe Gage and Frenchman Bob. Smithers is also already at Minnie's, though this is of his own accord and he is not with the men. It soon becomes clear that the four men are casing the place, after which point Bob murders the stagecoach driver Ed as well as Minnie and Charly, a young boy who worked there. Joe then shoots Judy, the other stagecoach driver, and Oswaldo shoots Gemma, a young girl who was also working there. The preacher, revealing his real name as Jody, then kills Sweet Dave. This all happens very quickly. They agree not to kill Smithers as the place would be suspiciously empty otherwise, and we then learn that Jody is Daisy's brother. From here things begin to circle around, as Ruth, Warren, Daisy, Chris and O.B. approach Minnie's from the mountain, so the four men put on their best poker faces, and Jody hides in the cellar below.
