The Hobbit: 10 Best Moments From The First Two Films
3. The Three Trolls
It's another scene that many fans of the book wanted to see, and one that's even referenced throughout the course of the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. The first of his many tests as a burglar, Bilbo finds himself in the sticky situation of having to free his dwarven comrades from the clutches of three idiotic trolls. With Gandalf nowhere to be seen as they're all taken captive, it's up to Bilbo to save the day. It's the first scene in which you're not only assured that Martin Freeman is capable of playing a much-loved character such as Bilbo Baggins, but also one in which the character himself shows off how well he can talk his way out of a dire situation. Of course, Gandalf does eventually appear to save the day by exposing the trolls to much dreaded sunlight, but it's because of the hobbit that there was anyone left to save in the first place.
