The Hobbit Spoilers: 13 Biggest Secrets & Changes Revealed

11. No-One Dies

Hobbit Thorin What were you expecting? It's The Hobbit after all, not Lord Of The Rings. There are a few fatalities in flash-back, and a lot of villainous characters bite the dust, including the excellent Great Goblin (voiced to perfection by Barry Humphries), but none of the main party of dwarves die, despite the traditional cinematic connotations of having a large party at the start of any kind of dangerous adventure (especially when some of them are shown to be idiotic). Thorin himself almost dies towards the end when Azog's warg savages him after he attacks the mounted Orc in an attack of pride, but his severe injuries clear up quite remarkably after Bilbo saves him from having his head chopped off and he is rescued in the grip of a Great Eagle.
