4. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2
When Harry Potter first hit cinemas, it was directly alongside The Fellowship of the Ring and its fair to say its initial competitor had a large influence on the teenage wizard. The darkness and general ideas of Tolkiens world had had a big influence on Rowlings novels and it transpired that Jacksons world would have equal impact on the films; leading to ever darker and epic scale adventures. What is the necklace/horcrux in Deathly Hallows: Part 1 but a new version of the ring of power? But in an odd twist of fate, it is Harry Potter that has the last laugh; with its final instalment it has made a greater impact on Middle Earth than the ring had on Hogwarts. The decision to split the final book into two films has had a large influence on blockbuster adaptations, with both The Hunger Games and Twilight copying the money spinning method. It was the popularisation of this that led to Warner Bros. accepting The Hobbit in a similar manner. As the first Hobbit film suffered greatly from the lack of actual plot due to the cutting, its fair to say this has had a more creative influence and will on the later films as well.
