9. The Rabbit Sled Chase

This one is stupid - really stupid. One of the problems The Hobbit faced was trying to establish a clear tone. Would it be light-hearted and humorous like a children's book? Or would it attempt to recapture the darkness and severity of the Rings trilogy? In the end, Jackson attempted both - to questionable effect.

The films seemed to flip back and forth whenever they needed to, flinging around slapstick gags and sombre moments within minutes of each other. One of the worst products of this was undoubtedly Radagast the Brown's rabbit sled. During a particularly tense moment in which the company finds itself surrounded by Wargs, Radagast appears from nowhere and instigates a chase of Benny Hill proportions.
