The Hobbit Trilogy: 10 Dumbest Moments

10. The Bilbo/Frodo Opening

On paper this sounds fantastic - a chance for Ian Holm and Elijah Wood to reprise their The Lord Of The Rings roles in order to ease the audience into a brand new adventure. In reality, however, the scene didn't quite work out like fans had hoped.

The truth is, it just felt off, Frodo and Bilbo's interactions so stilted. Sure, Ian Holm looked a lot older - and so did Elijah Wood, too - but that's not what made the scene bad. Ian McKellen was also older, and he managed to slip back into the role of Gandalf the Grey almost perfectly. No, for whatever reason the chemistry between Holm and Wood was just... gone. References to Sackville Bagginses and Bilbo's €œoddness€ felt cheap and forced - a kind of foreshadowing for the rest of the trilogy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaVQJn3Ljio
