The Hobbit Trilogy: 10 Worst CGI Moments
4. Legolas' Head Chop Conveyor Belt
If you haven't already sat through the laborious experience of The Battle of the Five Armies Extended Edition, save yourself the time. All it contains is a plethora of video game cut scenes, mostly featuring Legolas doing progressively weirder stuff. The most ridiculous moment depicted the super-elf, hanging upside down from a bat, and flying through a conveniently ordered queue of orcs, so he can decapitate them.
It was just one of WAY too many moments like this. In the original Lord of the Rings Trilogy, we saw Legolas do some pretty impressive things. His skill with a bow aside, he managed to take down a troll, skateboard on a shield and climb a Mûmakil. Admittedly it did get progressively more silly, but at least Jackson limited these moment to one per movie. They were brief, fun scenes that were memorable because they were unique.
All that went out the window with The Hobbit, every other scene involving Legolas had him performing some kind of killer-ballet move. But it no longer felt like the skilled acrobatics of an elf, rather the inventions of a video game developer. Watching Legolas on screen was like watching the love child of Spider-Man and a character from Assassin's Creed show off their moves.
