The Hunger Games: 10 Massive Spoilers For The Final Two Movies

8. Propaganda War

Between Katniss' position as the Mockingjay and Peeta's brainwashing, there's a lot of propaganda happening on both sides of the conflict that forms the centre of The Hunger Games' final chapters. Much of the book's middle section is devoted to Katniss and a small team of rebels who are sent out to film short "propo" videos. These films are used to invigorate the people who are forming the uprising and to scare the Capitol into acquiescing to rebel demands. It is during one of these propo shoots that one of the most dramatic set pieces of the Mockingjay film will occur, with Capitol forces targeting a hospital in District 8 with an explosive air strike. The Capitol's main tool of propaganda in Mockingjay is Katniss' friend Peeta. Full of tracker jacker venom, distorting his memories, Peeta appears on television regularly, begging Katniss to reconsider her support for the rebellion. As these recordings go on, signs of physical torture and abuse become more obvious, with the implication clear that the Capitol may well kill Peeta off soon.
