The Kid Who Would Be King Review: 6 Ups & 2 Downs

2. Rebecca Ferguson Is Totally Wasted
Rebecca Ferguson appears as the movie's main antagonist, King Arthur's half-sister Morgana, who awakens from her underground slumber and plots to take Excalibur for herself.
Sadly, Ferguson has barely five minutes of actual screen time throughout the film, spending almost the entire first half of the movie off-screen and glued to a wall, before she finally peels herself off and gets to work hunting down the mythical sword.
But even then, CGI does a lot of the heavy lifting and it really only seems like Ferguson was actually on set for a few days, with maybe an extra few hours in a sound booth to record some ominous whispers heard throughout the film.
It's a shame as her casting added a major touch of class to the project, but aside from a few amusingly hammy moments, she doesn't get a whole lot to do.
Ultimately the part could've been filled by any random, jobbing actress, not one of the hottest rising stars on the blockbuster circuit right now. Bizarre.
