The Lego Batman Movie: 10 Reasons It's Better Than Snyder's Batman

6. The Character Development Is Better (Yes, Really)

This may sound like an outlandish claim, but honestly, it really isn't at all. There are numerous scenes in The Lego Batman Movie devoted to Bats' yin-and-yang relationship with The Joker (and how they're essentially destined to fight forever) and also Alfred's attempts to open up Bruce's heart to Robin and Barbara Gordon, rather than stewing away alone in the Batcave forever more.

It's done with its tongue planted firmly in the cheek of course, but that doesn't diminish its effectiveness one bit. Bruce Wayne in BvS is meanwhile much more of a cipher and much harder to figure out, but not in a rewarding way either.

It's clear the Affleck version is still tormented by his parents' death (as every version of the character is), and he has a few memorable interactions with a concerned Alfred, but his unexplained murder of criminals and that infamous "Martha!" scene really prove how muddled this interpretation of the character is.

Again, this isn't remotely Affleck's fault, but hopefully future movies will attempt a more relatable course-correction of Batman's desires and motivations.
