1. King Triton Mardi Gras Float
And finally, another Easter Egg taken from another Disney film - this time the excellent The Princess & The Frog, which cemented Disney's return to hand-drawn animation after less successful flirtations with other forms of animation. Though the image of Neptune isn't exactly unfamiliar in Mardis Gras worlds, the character design is unmistakably the same as King Triton from The Little Mermaid, right down to the crown and trident combo. Like Sebastian's appearance in Aladdin, the appearance of King Triton here is thanks to the same directorial team - of Ron Clements and John Musker - taking charge of The Princess & The Frog. The Little Mermaid is released on Disney Diamond Edition on 2nd September -
