5. Halle Bailey Is A Fantastic Ariel

The Little Mermaid Ariel
Disney

One thing that most will come away from this movie agreeing upon is that Halle Bailey makes for one hell of a great Ariel. For all of the groan-worthy "controversy" about her casting, Bailey is more than qualified to play the role if only for one reason: she's got one hell of an incredible voice.

Bailey absolutely crushes "Part of Your World" early on and gives beautiful vocal renditions throughout the film, periodically breaking up the otherwise relatively snoozy script and direction.

Sure, some might argue that Bailey could've given us a feistier Ariel for contemporary audiences, but she nevertheless acquits herself exceptionally well throughout, and in turn basically carries the entire movie on her back. To call it a star-making performance is probably an understatement.
