http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hchOYs_d_Bw Nope we haven't gone insane and started mashing the keyboard with our fists. These are legitimately some of the lyrics featured in the (ahem) hit song The Lone Ranger by UK band Quantum Jump. Despite a very catchy hook and being deemed the record of the week on Tony Blackburn's nationwide morning radio show the song actually failed to chart. Apparently the lyrics were deemed too offensive as they are alleged to mention both drug use and homosexuality though neither allegation was ever actually confirmed by anyone. The song would re-emerge a year after its release thanks to airplay by comedian Kenny Everett and in 1979 it reached number 5 in the UK Top 40. Instead of the previous uninspiring 1976 intro this version featured the longest word in the world (confirmed by those lovely folk at Guinness) at the beginning spoken as if by Tonto and has remained popular in night clubs ever since.
