The Lord Of The Rings: 10 Most Powerful Items In Middle Earth

6. The Phial of Galadriel

New Line Cinema

Another item courtesy of Lady Galadriel, the Phial of Galadriel - better known as the Light of Earendil - was given to Frodo to be a light in dark places when all other lights go out. The Phial is a crystal vial filled with the enchanted water from the elf-queen's fountain, which holds one of the first sources of light for the elves.

Holding light itself makes it an incredibly powerful item, so powerful that the light is painful to many fell beasts and foul creatures. The Phial was instrumental for Frodo and Sam to survive the Morgul Vale, where they faced off against Shelob, the giant spider.

Despite Gollum's best efforts to kill them, the hobbits made it through the giant spider's ebbed labyrinth with the help of the guiding light. What's more, it was instrumental in the creature's defeat. Sam, wielding the Phial, was able to defeat the monster and save Frodo.

Hm, elven rope, elven cloaks, elven light, the fellowship seem to owe a great deal to the Lady Galadriel.
