The Lord Of The Rings: 10 Most Powerful Items In Middle Earth

2. The One Ring

Yes, we finally arrive at the thing itself. The One Ring. The Ring of Power. The Master Ring.

This little thing is, of course, the reason for all conflict across the LOTR trilogy. There is nothing in Middle Earth with a greater penchant for destruction and ruin. Forged in the fires of Mount Doom and intertwined with the dark lord's life, the Ring was created to control all others.

With the One Ring, Sauron could cover the world in darkness and dominate all life. There is nothing good about this thing, all its power brings is devastation and ruin. Anyone who attempted to wear it would gain great power, but even those who would wield it with the intent to do good would have their acts twisted in terrible evils, for the Ring answers to Sauron alone. Those who seek to use the ring will end up getting used themselves.

And on top of that, it cannot be destroyed by conventional weapons or even spells. It's virtually indestructible.

So, naturally, the only thing to do is go on a long quest to chuck it in a volcano. Only where it was created can it be destroyed. So much trouble for such a small thing.
