The Lord Of The Rings: 10 Most Powerful Swords In Middle-Earth
9. Herugrim
Being the sword of a King is a magnificent look for your CV. If there were a LinkedIn for blades, you'd have to imagine this would be front and centre on its account.
Herugrim is the famous sword belonging to the one and only King of Rohan, Théoden. Sadly, the blade's history isn't as clear cut as others. What is known about it is that the name comes from Rohirric and can be translated to words such as cruel, savage and fierce. Names mean a lot in Middle-Earth, so this sword has undoubtedly earned its reputation.
The blade plays a significant part in the plot of the trilogy, as it's a vessel to help Théoden recover from his time under the influence of Saruman and Grima Wormtongue. Grasping it in his hand was a monumental moment for the Lord of the Rivermark, and it shows how significant the relationship between a blade and its owner is.
Théoden used this weapon - described as an ancient one, possibly an heirloom passed down the line of kings - to fight on the front lines in the War of the Ring. It tasted plenty of Orc blood and helped carry the forces of good to victory.
