The Lord Of The Rings: 10 Most Powerful Swords In Middle-Earth
2. Glamdring
This list has already spoken about Sting and Orcrist, so it must be time to discuss the third sword created by the Elves of Gondolin to be wielded by Middle-Earth heroes, and this one is the most powerful. Still, what else can you expect from the iconic Istar, Gandalf?
Glamdring is a legendary blade crafted for use by Turgon, the Elven King of Gondolin. It's also known as the Foe-Hammer or the Beater to Orcrist's Biter. No matter what you call it, it's a very deadly piece of metal.
The sword is long and sharp yet surprisingly agile, allowing Gandalf to carve foes apart easily. It also has the ability to glow when enemies are nearby, like its fellows Sting and Orcrist, adding yet another level to its strength.
During the battle with the Balrog, you even got to see Gandalf conduct lightning through the sword. While that power comes from Gandalf instead of Glamdring itself, it's no stretch of the imagination to assume most other blades would have burst into pieces attempting to do it. Talk about catching lightning in a bottle or, uh, sword.
