The Many Saints Of Newark Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Superb Period Detail

The Many Saints of Newark

But no period film can survive without strong production design, and The Many Saints of Newark absolutely passes the test. This world feels incredibly lived-in - familiar enough to what we saw in the series but also markedly different.

Chase and Taylor are sure to provide glimpses of several iconic locales from the series - most notably Satriale's Pork Store, which the DiMeo crime family uses for meetings, and Holsten's ice cream parlour, which featured so memorably in the series finale's very last scene.

Beyond this, the houses, the vehicles, and especially the clothing all feels absolutely on point and true to its era, again helping differentiate the film somewhat from the more contemporary stylings of the series.
