The Matrix Resurrections: 25 WTF Moments

10. The Merovingian's Totally Unhinged Cameo

The Matrix Resurrections
Warner Bros.

There's no single cameo in this film more ridiculous than that of everyone's favourite snobby French a**hole, the Merovingian (Lambert Wilson).

When Smith confronts Neo and company mid-way through the movie, he summons a group of exiles to attack, only for one of them to reveal himself as an hilariously haggard-looking "Merv."

That's not all - the Merovingian spots Neo and manically accuses him of stealing his life and "ruining every suck-my-silky-ass thing," whatever that means, in-between cursing vociferously in French.

While the other exiles are fighting Neo et al., Merv goes on to complain about the kids and their mobile phones, the lack of originality in art, and even Facebook's intrusiveness in our lives.

It is, true to form for the character, at once insufferable and laugh-out-loud funny.
