The Matrix Resurrections: 25 WTF Moments
18. All The Footage From The Original Trilogy
Of all the many surprising things in Resurrections, few could've expected just how much footage from the original trilogy would be included throughout the film. It's a lot.
For starters, Wachowski cuts to clips from the first three films whenever characters reference prior events or even act out iconic moments once again, and then goes further by literally having Neo be shown clips from the movies within the Matrix.
After Bugs rescues Neo from an agent attack and brings him to Morpheus, the walls are covered with video projections of clips from the first Matrix film, with Bugs explaining that after Neo's freakout during their first meeting, displaying elements from his past might help ease him into the present.
Morpheus than says, "Nothing comforts anxiety like a little nostalgia," a line that could've only been more wink-wink at the audience if Morpheus wasn't wearing his signature sunglasses.
Name another movie sequel where the previous films have literally been shown within the continuity of the new one. Absolute madness.
