1. It Doesn't Set Up A Sequel...For Some Reason

While The Meg doesn't serve up many narrative surprises, you might be a little bemused to learn that it doesn't in fact end with an enthusiastic set-up for a sequel.

As cynical as sequel-bait endings can be, if there's any movie where audiences could get on-board with it, it's surely this. Instead, the movie just...ends without even the slightest hint of more shark shenanigans to come.

Sure, a sequel remains a dicey prospect given the movie's huge budget and the $400+ million it needs to make to break even, but still, why the hell didn't this film end with a 200-foot megalodon jumping out of the ocean and flying towards the screen? Come on.

If you can let these gripes slide, there is undeniable fun to be had with this movie, so here's what The Meg gets right...
