The Midnight Sky Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

2. The Uneven Pacing

The Midnight Sky George Clooney
Netflix

Though clocking in at a seemingly reasonable two hours in length, this is a bit of a slog to get through all in all.

Clooney makes it clear early on that he's opting for a deliberate, methodical storytelling mode, which works well for the stark survival aspect of the first act, yet becomes tiresome by the time Clooney is shuffled off-screen for a while and the focus is shifted elsewhere.

The spaceship plot frequently drags despite the various perilous incidents thrown at the crew, such that by the time it all "finally" comes to an end, you may feel like it could've arrived there 20 minutes earlier and been all the better for it.
