1. The Painful 15-Minute Epilogue
The film clocks in at 112 minutes, but the actual survival scenario wraps itself up at around the 90-minute mark, with a lengthy, Return of the King-esque epilogue being tacked onto the back-end of the film for little reason at all.
It's as though Hany Abu-Assad was wrapping up production and realised he was meant to be making a survival-romance, so hastily lumped a gratuitous dramatic follow-up onto what was a relatively harmless survival film.
It says a lot that one of the epilogue scenes was re-shot less than two months before the film's September premiere, because the syrupy, sentimental finale feels both rushed and overlong all at the same time.
But the film wasn't all bad, in fact, so here's what actually works...
