The Nun Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs
4. It's Incredibly Dull
Though "boring" can often be a descriptor used by critics for a movie they just didn't like, The Nun truly is a dull, tiresome film that's an utter chore to watch.
Accepting all other criticisms, the killer one is that neither the characters nor the story are at all interesting, with the entire movie feeling like a generic, perfunctory exercise.
Where's the propulsive, nervous energy? Where are the crisp, ominous visuals? Instead we get molasses-slow pacing and wretched, washed-out cinematography far away from the evocative work on the main Conjuring movies.
By the time the end credits rolled, I felt legitimately exhausted by this movie. All 96 minutes of it.
