4. Not Enough Action

Though the marketing for The Old Guard was focused extensively on the film's array of slick action sequences, it's a mild disappointment that lengthy carnage is actually in relatively short supply across its two-hour runtime.

While most of the set-pieces we do get are tightly shot and relatively entertaining - but more on that in a moment - there are several frustratingly long stretches of time where audiences may get restless waiting for the next burst of combat.

Considering the project's evidently substantial budget and glossy trailers promising myriad gory shootouts and punch-ups, it's surprising how often the movie instead forces viewers to sit through tiresome, elongated dialogues. Speaking of which...
