The Predator: 14 Easter Eggs & References Explained
13. The Hilarious High School Sign
We're introduced to Rory's (Jacob Tremblay) high school early on in the movie and it plays host to a major set-piece later on, but keen-eyed viewers might notice some rather amusing references hidden in the school's welcome sign.
Firstly, it's the "Lawrence A. Gordon Middle School", and Lawrence Gordon is a prolific Hollywood producer who has worked on Predator, Predator 2 and also this new movie.
The school's slogan is "Home of The Warriors", clearly referring to the classic 1979 Walter Hill thriller The Warriors, which was also produced by Gordon, along with him executive-producing the upcoming The Warriors TV series.
Finally, and most hilariously, the sign also advertises a Halloween party, declaring "welcome parents & STDs".
Clearly the "STD" part is supposed to be an abbreviation of "students", but given Shane Black's penchant for darkly witty wordplay, we're going to assume he's making a joke about people referring to kids as sexually transmitted diseases.
