The Predator: 18 WTF Moments

5. The Most Unnecessary Sunglasses

The Predator Traeger
Fox

Traeger is a bit of a mixed bag as a character. On the one hand, he has the instant appeal of Sterling K Brown playing him, but he's also saddled with a bad script, cliched dialogue and absent motivation, which is not good for a villain. Sure, he's playing a part in a movie that KNOWS its characters are cliches and is possibly playing that up, but it's no good when some of it is so hackneyed.

The stand out weird moment for him comes in the film's finale when he kidnaps young Rory to use his knowledge of the Predator's language and ship to break into the downed ship. At one point, he's basically being a stereotypical villain, forcing Rory to hack the lock on the ship's door and the camera cuts away from him. When it returns, he's wearing sunglasses.

It's not like its a continuity error, it's more like the character is such an insufferable prick that he got his shades out to look cool for an important part of the story.
