The Predator Trailer 2: 9 Things You Might Have Missed
1. The Ultimate Predators
Let's talk about that big guy.
Sterling K. Brown refers to it as the "ultimate Predator" during its reveal and that sounds incredibly fitting. Viewers were actually introduced to him in the previous trailer, but here we get an even greater look at him.
Just like in the previous trailer, he rips one of the basic Predators through a wall and smashes him on top of a car. Noticeably though, the shot of this ultimate Predator towering over the other one has been extended and it now really sells this money shot. The finer details of it, like the subservient Predator almost shaking in fear or the ultimate Predator's mandibles menacingly clattering about, make all the difference.
The only other shot of the big guy in the trailer is the final stinger, of him letting loose an iconic Predator roar. It is short, barely even lasting a full second, but man is it effective. It's in daylight, so the shot offers a clearer look at him all around. His skin is a mixture of red and black tones and his mandibles are even more imposing than the regular Predator's.
In a very nice touch, Black and the incomparable Larry Fong shake the camera ever-so-slightly during this shot, making the roar and his movement feel all the more visceral and impactful.
It's like a shot of adrenaline, and now September 14 can't get here soon enough.
