The Predator: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. The Death Of The Earth

The bad news for humanity is that no amount of Predator Killing will be enough to make this all lead to a happy ending. Because the Predator's gift to mankind can have absolutely no say in the reason the hunters are coming to Earth more frequenrly. As the heroes learn, Earth's increasing temperature is killing humanity but makign Earth a more likely place for the aliens to settle as their own new outpost.

They're coming to Earth more frequently to harvest what's left of the best of them before Earth kills them off (in a matter of "two generations" apparently). And a weapon designed to defend against the hunters can't do anything about that, even though the heroes initially think the Predator's gift is a means to reverse sclimate change.

Unless of course it turns out that the Predator Killer is, in fact, more than a suit of armour. Perhaps this is essentially the Holy Grail, designed to somehow stave off the climate change that will ultimately do us all in? It would have to be, otherwise that dropped plotline will look very silly indeed.
