The Revenant: What To Expect Based On The Epic Trailer
1. The Defining DiCaprio Performance?
With every new movie of his, with every passing performance, Leonardo DiCaprio becomes a greater actor before the audience's eyes. He's come a considerable way since his Titanic and Gangs Of New York days, to the point where you can now legitimately say he's one of the best - if not the very best - of Hollywood's star actors.
In recent years he's been on a mission to top himself - first Revolutionary Road, then Shutter Island, then The Wolf Of Wall Street. And, on the evidence of The Revenant's teaser trailer, there's nothing to suggest DiCaprio won't top his own best work once again, with what looks like the part to test him into finally bagging that Oscar.
The Revenant will largely be a one-man show, and DiCaprio will have his work cut out - but in just two minutes of a trailer you can already see the beginnings of a vulnerable, barnstorming performance. Whether it'll get him an Oscar or not, DiCaprio has picked a plum role here - it may well come to define him.
