The Single Best Thing In Every Star Wars Movie

2. The Last Jedi: The Fantastic, Twisty Plot

Much like with the widely beloved second film of the Original Trilogy, The Last Jedi's greatest strength is arguably its story. This is why it works so well... at least, for those who enjoyed it.

Filled with shocking plot twists, nerve-shreddingly suspenseful action scenes, beautiful character moments and heartfelt, brilliantly emotional storytelling, The Last Jedi gives viewers a largely fantastic narrative and it's thanks to this that it was easily the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back.

Of course, it's not perfect. There are a few illogical and ill-judged moments but when the film is on form - and for most of its mammoth run-time, it is - it absolutely freaking slays. As for the criticisms of the storyline being a bit all over the place and things not paying off, that is an entirely fair point but this messy, unpredictable nature arguably adds to the film in many ways by making it doubly suspenseful.

Another link this movie has to The Empire Strikes Back is that that movie faced backlash at the time of its release too. Will this movie face a critical re-evaluation just like that one did? Time will tell, but let's hope so. It's an occasionally messy yet overall majestic sci-fi epic that thrills, moves and shocks in equal measure, and it deserves more credit than it often gets.
