The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film And TV Show Has Made

25. Spider-Man: Homecoming - Flat Direction

Avengers Endgame Thor
Marvel Studios

A high-school comedy movie starring Spider-Man is an irresistible idea, and sure enough, Homecoming is a largely excellent affair that soars high on the strength of its cast and screenplay. Unfortunately, the direction of the film isn't up to that level.

In stark contrast to the absolutely amazing visuals in both the Sam Raimi trilogy and the Amazing Spider-Man duology (regardless of how those films turned out overall, they had stunning cinematography all the way through), Homecoming is one of the weakest MCU films in regards to its visuals, which are pretty flat-looking.

Director Jon Watts wasn't really the right person to helm this, but for some reason he was kept around for both of the film's follow-ups.
