The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film And TV Show Has Made

2. Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania - MODOK

Avengers Endgame Thor
Marvel Studios

The absolute state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: MODOK... aka, pure nightmare fuel. Interestingly, MODOK feels like an unintentional representation of the current situation of this once-proud franchise.

A painfully stupid and unfunny side-villain who represents a complete butchering of a much-admired comic book baddie and looks about as good as something from 2019's Cats, MODOK feels like everything people hate about the MCU right now - garbage writing, unfunny comedy, subpar CGI and turning things that could've been weighty and interesting into jokes.

But that's not all. At the end of the film, as if this character - and poor Corey Stoll (reprising his role from the first Ant-Man), a brilliant character actor outrageously wasted on this part - hadn't been disrespected enough, they insisted on throwing in a painfully half-assed redemption arc in which he sacrifices himself while yelling "I am not a d**k!"

To echo a rather hilarious exclamation from Yelena Belova in Hawkeye: "What was that?!"

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is not a good movie at all, and it made so many mistakes - awful CGI, sub-par writing and turning Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) into an whiny, unlikable brat. Still, MODOK's big, ugly CGI mug is what's going to haunt you long after this ill-judged threequel concludes.
