The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film And TV Show Has Made

36. Captain America: The First Avenger - That Awful Showgirl Subplot

Captain America: The First Avenger is one of the less-remembered MCU films, but it certainly isn't one of the worst. Even though it doesn't do anything super-memorable, it doesn't make many notable blunders either; it's just a good, solid origin story that serves as a fine introduction for Captain America (Chris Evans).

It's hard to think of too many egregious mistakes from this one, but the one thing that sticks out the most is definitely the showgirl subplot. After Captain America is transformed into a super-soldier and participates in his first action scene - an awesome one at that - viewers will definitely be pumped. Unfortunately, the film then grinds to a halt as Cap's higher-ups send him on a nationwide tour to promote war bonds, performing in a rather tiresome stage show.

Yes, the army didn't trust Cap enough to send him on missions yet and he still needed to win them over, but surely there was a better way to fill this part of the film? Like, surely?
