The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film And TV Show Has Made

35. The Avengers - Flat Cinematography

The Avengers is absolutely incredible. Filled with superb performances, delightful dialogue and several of the greatest MCU action sequences of all time, the final - and best - film of Phase One saw the MCU reach its apex, and this was the moment when it became clear to all that this was a franchise that would go down in history.

More than a decade on, The Avengers largely holds up, but one issue that definitely leaps out on repeat viewings is the film's cinematography, which is really rather bland (especially in the opening scene) and does feel TV movie-like (as in, back when that was still an insult) at times.

Unfortunately, flat visuals have been a definite issue in a fair few of the future MCU products as well, so sadly this was a sign of things to come to some extent. Still, Joss Whedon's directing improved quite a bit in the sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
