The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film And TV Show Has Made

32. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - The Nick Fury Twist

From the worst MCU film to what is arguably the best. This was quite the extraordinary turnaround for the MCU.

A brilliantly thrilling, phenomenally plotted and endlessly engrossing superhero action epic, The Winter Soldier is The Dark Knight of the MCU. Still, to echo one of the greatest closing lines in film history from 1959's Some Like It Hot, nobody's perfect. It does have Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) completely pointless fake-out death.

Not only was this a twist so obvious it hurt, and not only did the film fail to really explain how this fake-out was carried out, but it added nothing to the movie and only took Jackson out of the equation for much of the run-time. Less of him is always a bad thing.

Still, this is a fantastic flick aside from this error, and to be fair it did also lead to a very good Easter egg. On Fury's fake gravestone, there is a quote from Ezekiel 25:17 on it. Quentin Tarantino has made it clear he's not a massive MCU fan, but he did also admit it felt pretty good seeing his work referenced here.
