The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film And TV Show Has Made

31. Guardians Of The Galaxy - Ronan The Accuser

Just when the MCU was first starting to feel a tad on the samey side, along came Guardians of the Galaxy to save the day.

A bizarre yet delicious cocktail of thrills, laughs and heart, GOTG was exactly that subversive, risk-taking film the series needed... or rather, it mostly was. The movie did, unfortunately, let itself down with its woefully bland and generic villain, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). God, even his name will have you nodding off.

This character feels like he accidentally wandered in from a different, far inferior movie, and in such a vibrant, colourful movie he stands out in the worst possible way.

In the past, the most unfair criticism of the MCU was the so-called 'Villain Problem', which was always a massive over-exagerration. The Infinity Saga had some unreal villains and many of the weaker ones were OK at worst, but at the same time there were a few really bad antagonists and Ronan is definitely one of them. While he's not the worst MCU villain, he could just be the most forgettable.
