The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film Has Made

The Movie:

By far the most disappointing MCU film, most of the magic that made the first film so special disappeared this time and while it has some excellent bits, it is simply too messy, generic and tension-free to remember with much fondness.

Yes, Age of Ultron is worse than The Incredible Hulk. In fact, it was probably the most disappointing film of 2015.

The messy plot, illogical moments and routine action were also big issues, but the main problem with Age of Ultron is that it took no risks at all. It is one of the safest films imaginable and it had absolutely no stakes whatsoever.

The worst part of this was during the film's final act. No-one genuinely important died and the battle of Sokovia was also a huge missed opportunity. What if the Avengers had to leave some people behind on the levitating capital city? That could've added some real dramatic weight to the film, but instead nearly everyone got away unscathed. Unlike in films such as The Dark Knight or Logan, there was no moral ambiguity, no genuine peril for any of the heroes and no surprises at all.

This was an insultingly lazy movie and compared to the riskiness of other films such as Guardians of the Galaxy or Infinity War, this was fatally predictable.

Fix:

Add in more character deaths and also make it darker and more morally ambiguous.
