The Spectacular Spider-Man: 11 Biggest Mistakes It Needs To Avoid

8. Trying Too Hard To Tie Into The Marvel Cinematic Universe

The idea of Spider-Man being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a dream come true for pretty much every comic book fan, though at the same time, Marvel and Sony should be careful not to force Spidey's involvement too quickly. A cameo appearance in Civil War will be a good start, yet hopefully The Spectacular Spider-Man will for the most part operate as a standalone movie with merely tangential links to the MCU by way of a cameo appearance from an Avenger after the credits or something. Literally all that needs to be done to insert Spidey into the MCU is have Nick Fury or someone approach him at the end and say, "I'd like you to join the Avengers Initiative". No gimmicks needed: fans will accept it and just be happy that they'll be able to see Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War. If they instead are constantly name-dropping Marvel characters in the movie, it could end up irritating and detract from a movie which desperately needs to stand on its own before it can be linked to anything else.
